One for the ‘great adventures’ list
The orangutan encounters were amazing in the wild (so rare!) and at feeding stations for rescued individuals. We also spotted lots of entertaining proboscis monkeys, playful gibbons, langurs, and macaques. The area is teeming with birdlife, both rare and common, and we enjoyed day and night walks through the stunning rainforest. The boat crew was fantastic, and the food on the boat was excellent. One of the biggest highlights was our local guide, Hakim, who shared incredible knowledge and stories passed down through generations.

A unique jungle experience
Our guide, who had really good English was very knowledgeable and very helpful. Altogether it was a unique jungle experience - getting close to the orangutans, and spotting various species of monkeys as well as crocodiles and exotic birds made for an unforgettable experience!!

Wonderful visit in Tanjung Puting National Park
We had a wonderful experience on the river with Hakim, a very friendly guide who knew so much about birds and other wildlife that we viewed along the river (and we appreciated Hakim’s very sharp eyes). We saw a lot of orangutans, including a young male building a sleeping nest in the trees.

Incredibly Unique Experience
The klotok (wooden boat) was clean, comfortable & the perfect vessel for a river safari (yes, there is a bathroom). Hakim was excellent at sharing his knowledge about the flora & fauna - his natural curiosity & enthusiasm is so enjoyable.

We spent each day and part of a couple of nights out on the boat, going slowly up the river, stopping at places our guide had arranged. Our guide, Hakim, was just outstanding, the food was wonderful, the staff were friendly and the plant and wildlife viewing was amazing.
